hiii it's ur fav girl lestiee Soo here's my wce it's a draft of one of the parts in my story um so it isn't very good without any further ado, let's get into it also i'm really hoping this goes with the theme :fingers crossed: and if not lmk bc i'll fix it or smthg idk enjoy? -xoxo, lestie --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The night is cold and empty. And so is the palace. Silver moonlight streams through the large windows, tinting the marble halls silver. It is much too quiet without her. Still, I force myself to walk forward, force myself to follow through with the ritual I have gone through for years. I pause for a moment before heading outside. The frigid air hits me like a slap, the cold wind biting my skin. The white snow sparkles in the moonlight, though it will surely melt by morning. And all I can do is can’t help but think that it was always her favorite season. It isn’t very late at night, but since it’s the winter solstice, it’s already darker than normal. Yet I can see the snow-covered hills perfectly. The same hills that we ran across, throwing snowballs and making snow angels. And just for a moment, I see the remnants of snow angels, the footprints left behind. But then I blink and they’re gone. I sigh before trudging across the snowy ground to my destination, but not before stooping down to pick a lily. Her favorite flower, as thriving as she was. I can see the tree, dusted with sparkling snow in the moonlight. And it almost makes me smile. Almost. I push through the low-hanging branches and into the small clearing, the moonlight the only source lighting my path. The clearing is empty, as always, small piles of snow dusting the ground. I run my hand against the rough bark of the tree, feeling every knot and groove that I’ve memorized. I sit down on the frozen ground, the same place I’ve sat down on every year. I twirl the lily in my hands. “You know,” I say softly to no one in particular. Or maybe it’s just that I’m hoping she can hear me. “You and Ela could have been friends. You both were quite similar.” I hear myself chuckle, but I don’t feel it happen. “Oh, how you would’ve loved to have another friend besides me.” I was her only friend, and she was mine. We were each other’s only company, and I loved my little sister more than anything in the world. I just didn’t expect the unexpected to happen. I sigh as I place the lily at the foot of the tree, like I have for so many years. “Happy birthday, Lillie,” I say softly. The wind could almost substitute for her warm touch. Except it never will. Because she is irreplaceable. Untouchable. She slipped through my fingers so many years ago, because I failed to save her. She is forever lost. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- a/n:: nahhhh what is this update:: 1st place?!?! tyyyyyyyysmmmm
