The Auburn Mall, in Auburn, Maine, is a 300,000 square foot one-level shopping mall that was built and opened in 1979. It started with two anchor stores, JcPenney, and Porteous. A Sears was added with an expansion of the mall in 1990. The Porteous at the mall closed in 2002, following the bankruptcy of the business. The mall has had many stores come and go in the past 20 or so years, and most of the stores have been shuttered because of the Covid 19 Pandemic. An interesting thing I found out about this mall is that it has never been redeveloped or remodeled, the interior, and the signs are all original from 1979.
