Through looking at Chemicals in the soil, he knew that adding nitrogen was the the key, and this could be achieved by growing crops such as peanuts, sweet potatoes, and soybeans. Carver invented the idea of crop rotation, growing different crops at different times to improve the soil. His method allowed farmers to produce more cotton. Many farmers did not know what to do with these crops. He developed more than 300 different ways to make use of peanuts. Including: Milk, cheese, and soap! Became known as the peanut man!
