How I’m thinking of roleplaying the character: Terezi went blind when sneaking outside the house when fae were a kit. Fae got faer eyes scratched out by a small baby badger. Luckily, faer humans found faer before fae got any further injury. When fae is a kit and an apprentice, fae remember some colors in the form of flowers, but fae don’t really know how they remember them. It’s kind of a weird, delicate balance of knowing colors but not really being able to see them or visualize them. Fae only see a pink, reddish haze, which is good because faer favorite color is pink! Well, kind of. Fae kind of remember a nice yellow flower, but that’s one of those weird colors that fae can’t really see. Terezi moves around by a mix of memory, smells, sounds, and clicking faer throat. Using this, fae can basically move around like a normal cat. However, fae do sometimes mess up and bump into things (mostly when fae get excited and aren’t really paying attention). She relies HEAVILY on sound. She can only go to sleep when listening to a certain song that her owners play (which, by the way, happens to be Milk Carton by Madilyn Mei) Terezi has a favorite flower that fae always wear on faer collar. Fae are really energetic and sweet, and love playfighting and playing with noisy toys, like tinfoil. Fae really want to hunt a real mouse someday, (like she’s heard on the thing that the humans call a “TV”) no matter what others think! Fae love faer siblings and is up for almost any adventure that you can take her on. What’s next for Terri?
Research: (good research is so hard to find sob) “ Went Totally Blind: People who have lost their sight have different experiences. Some describe seeing complete darkness, like being in a cave. Some people see sparks or experience vivid visual hallucinations that may take the form of recognizable shapes, random shapes, and colors, or flashes of light.” “ A blind cat learns quickly the topography of the place where it lives with the help of his whiskers. Moving stuff around will panic them as they will sense objects that were not there before. I once moved the cleaning broom from the kitchen to the bathroom and it almost gave Arya a heart attack.” “ Going blind is different, though. It depends on when you go blind. The younger you are when you go blind, the easier and more normal it feels.” I will add any more research I find! I also know from many documentaries that many blind people operate by clicking, and i think that that would be really interesting for Terezi!
