This is an example of Horsing in Half Chess. And yes. It can be this chaotic. Sure you could just do it with the King, but that's less fun. You have to start it with the King and as long as it is a legal move you can continue it. You cannot use pieces previously used in the chain. You can use Horsing and its variants for the other groups at any time in the game, however. You can only use it once.
