During the August 7th attempt to attack the Takeian stronghold of Sanbachi, Nous had failed to acknowledge a major, key point that led to their failed invasion - The fact that it was one of the Empire of Takei's primary naval strongholds - And one of the heaviest defended, at that. Surprisingly, as Takei hadn't expected anything from the east, Nousian ships were able to slip through the blockade under the cover of night - Very embarrassing to the Takeians. Nous had been hoping for a swift victory, but due to this miscalculation, ended up being pummeled by the ITN. By the end of the failed attack, many of Nous' armored cruisers had been sunk by heavier armed and armored battleships, as well as heavy coastal defenses. Remaining Nousian ships were forced to retreat. Some damage had been done to Takeian ships and defenses with the combined efforts of torpedo boats and some naval shelling, but it was negligible at best compared to the Nousian loss. Nous then claimed a "Siege of Valink" after the fact to keep narrative control of the situation, as their forces were forced out of Takeian waters, and now sit outside of Takei's blockade. Nous failed to recognize Takei as the dominant naval power in the south, and as a result, their under armed navy which, in all honesty, is really still in its infancy, was unable to do very much. Surprisingly, Takei has stated their willingness to sweep the event under the rug as something like this about their blockade is pretty bad PR... so long as Nous pays for damages, respects Takei's maritime blockade of Tyrif, and agrees to keep the incident strictly confidential. This seems to be the only option to prevent a major war from breaking out, in the event of which, Nous would clearly not hold too well navy-wise.
