Nobody ever talks about what their troops actually carry around, so I thought it would be cool to touch on that topic. The basic pack has a bedroll wrapped around a rucksack, canteen, and a metal tin for carrying things. Around the belt, there is a canteen and a bayonet. However, light troops and hastily formed divisions and paramilitaries may be issued a breadbag rather than a pack. Next is rations, rations are a crucial role in military operation. Manchu travelling troops on the move eat fish in little tins, and get 1 can a day. Riverfish is an invasive species from neighboring Palen, and the Dept of Agriculture gives an award per fish caught. Next is chocolate, which they get 1 per week. Manchus are supposed to get a delicious milk chocolate bar that is molded with a hazelnut paste in the mold in order to save cocoa. A loaf of bread is also given bi-weekly. These are bottom-line rations, as most Manchus get more food in addition to this, such as rice and meat from field kitchens.
