☆ introduction hey everyone!! in celebration of hitting 600+ followers a while back, I decided to host a dta - something I've always wanted to do. please be sure to read through everything in the desc, even if you've entered a dta before! this one is, well, a little quirky... ☆ what's a dta? dta stands for Draw To Adopt essentially, you draw the design(s) you're entering for, and after the deadline the host will judge the entries and announce who's won which design. sometimes there are also second and third places and/or honorary mentions. these usually win a small prize of some sort, although not the original design (which goes to first place, or the winner) ☆ what's a "special" dta? I'm so glad you asked! as I said, I've been wanting to host a dta for a long time. but, being myself, I couldn't have just any, run-of-the-mill dta. no, this one would be different. there are four different "levels" of designs, with one design per level. the levels are as follows: ➢ extremely easy ➢ slightly less easy ➢ a little complex ➢ a tad more difficult ➢ literally impossible hah, did you think I forget to tell you about the fifth level? that's because it's not really a level, it's a challenge. more on that one later... ☆ rules and guidelines [ general rules ] ➢ do not steal, trace, or use ai art to create your entry. referencing is fine, copying is not. ➢ species-bending is fine, but please don't simplify, complicate, or change the design too much. the point of the dta is to have designs of varying complexity, which is kind of defeated if people change their level of difficulty when drawing them. ➢ do not guilt-trip, whine, or put other participants down. comments such as "I love seeing all the entries! everyone has such good art <3" is fine, but something like "everyone else is so good...I will never win :(" will lead to your entry being disqualified. ➢ just be a decent person in general please :) ➢ if you're feeling creative, come up with inventive backstories and personalities for the design(s)! the little blurbs for each design are just for fun, although you're more than welcome to take inspiration from them. ➢ you may enter for multiple designs, but only win or place for one. ➢ most importantly, have fun! [ challenge design - rule additions ] ➢ do not copy, steal, or heavily reference someone else's entry. this isn't cool anyway but especially not for this challenge. ➢ it's not required that you stick to the palette, but if you don't your chances of your design looking like the original will drop. this may not be a bad thing, so I leave it to your discretion. ➢ be aware that this challenge isn't just about art, or even how close your entry looks to the original. this design is a bit of a wild card and I won't be revealing my judging criteria until results are announced, so be gracious and follow the rules. ➢ and, of course, enjoy this wacky little challenge ;) ☆ the designs + deadline ➢ pretty kitty | level one, extremely easy no dta is complete without a generic cat, but at least this one has some nice contrast. ➢ peaches and cream | level two, slightly less easy a juicy, sweet bunny dolloped with cream and sprinkled with fruit slices. simple palette, summery vibes. ➢ swamp guardian | level three, a little complex you might just find royalty standing in front of you if you give the frog a kiss - it's wearing a lotus flower crown, after all. (you might also end up with slime on your lips and an angry frog.) ➢ moons and mirrors | level four, a tad more difficult it's awfully hard to read faces that only reflect yours back at you - but perhaps the lantern's light will reveal hidden secrets. shimmering vines splinter the light into thousands of beams, made of the same material as the wanderer's skin. ➢ blob | special challenge, literally impossible okay time for an explanation of how this challenge works! the blob is a silhouette of a mystery design in the provided palette. to enter, you must use your imagination to try and guess what the design looks like and then draw it. the winner get the mystery design. (by the way...the silhouette could be in any position or at any angle, so have fun with that!) ➢ deadline | none there are only 3 entries atm so i'll wait to set a deadline until i have more lol ☆ prizes and places ➢ 1st place the design, of course ➢ 2nd place colored headshot of one of their characters ➢ 3rd place uncolored headshot of one of their characters ➢ hon. mentions you get mentioned lol ➢ special categories this IS a special dta, after all, so of course I have another surprise. there will be 3 special prizes that might be awarded to entries that really stood out in some way, but just didn't make the cut. however, they're not guaranteed - they may not be given, so don't be too disappointed if they don't show up. ☆ end that's all I have for you...so get drawing!
