Here's some info about why Terminexus turns red! Due to being a virus made by Pitch that evolved on its own, it was bound to have conflicts within its code, thus causing Terminuxus to glitch while also becoming more powerful for a brief period. It's something he can't control, and whenever it happens, despite the power boost, it causes him a great deal of pain, thus why he turns red.
