So... I will not in fact reveal my name/its meaning! That is for you to decipher ;) (No, it does not have to do with flowers) Even so, I do really hope you enjoy this love story of two who find true love. I used a lot of symbolism in this story, and there are many little details to be picked out from every sentence so really, do enjoy. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~♡~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Light danced across the window panes, creating splashes of light drawn across the parlor floor. Oh how she loved books. They were so cherished in her sight. Truly, words that made you feel so far, so deep and so wide into the stretches of the heart were unable to be described properly by the use of other words. It struck her that she favored books above all else, since they were the only material that made one live in the immaterial. She closed the cover of the book she had read, and placed it in her lap. Blue. Such a color that could invoke many feelings. That of the sky. He simply walked with his hands in his pockets, passing through the many crowds. There was nothing in particular that he could note about those who passed around him. There was nothing particular about anything at’all. She decided to go check the mail, for who knows? A letter may be concealed there. Oh she just got excited by thinking about it, her heart leapt as she did to her feet and she ran to the door. Oh, quaint house after quaint house. He once again didn’t have much thought to put to it. The only thing that could have been attractive to him about these homes- was sharing one. Yes, he admitted it. He was lonely. But, alas, love doesn’t come like the frolicking along as a butterfly alights to a petal. She flung open the front door, and ran to the front of the small yard, only about 12 steps between her and the stairs. She opened the mailbox and! No response. Why? What had she done to deserve such cruel treatment? Hadn’t they exchanged glances across the parlor before? He watched with slight curiosity as the girl bounded down the steps to reach her mailbox. Someone who actually looked passionate for once. But he knew the look. The look of one who was to receive a letter from a lover. He instantly detached himself from all hope, and continued shuffling along. She stood there, frozen as her heart cried out. No, this wasn’t how it should have gone. It just wasn’t meant to be! She could almost faint- in fact, faint she did. He found himself staring into the face of the girl he had caught. The world seemed to pass around them as they shared this moment, even as strangers. Her eyes fluttered open and he caught his breath. Startling, dazzling eyes they were. Green as the meadows on a crisp morning. She opened her eyes and stared in disbelief at the man who held her. What was it about him that was so captivating? He looked ordinary with his long grey overcoat, his straight tie and his white collared shirt. Every man wore it. And yet he looked… different. The man stood up, helping the girl to her feet. She stood, not wanting to let go. He wasn’t sure himself. Yet he knew he couldn’t idle about, he had a job. So he thanked the girl, and left. Yet ‘ere his heart still beat wildly. She couldn’t believe herself as she allowed him to walk away. She felt as though she was folding in on herself. But! She had felt it. She was sure she had. Yes. She ran back inside, empty handed, yet fuller than ever. She placed herself in the front room. As a day passed, he set on his cap and grabbed the handle of his bike, and set out upon it dashing down the streets. He rode until he was there. He saw her waiting in the parlor. He, feeling a sense of abandonment, paused and waved his paper to her through the window. She lit up as he was standing there, over his bike waving to her. She ran out to meet him. And for once in her life, she couldn’t find a book to quote or a passage to say in all her mind. She stood there, breathless, ready. He looked at her lovingly, took her hand as she gasped slightly. “Will- will you come with me to the park tomorrow? For lunch?” “... Yes, I would,” He smiled, and rode off, leaving her once again at the gate, already anticipatory. ---------------- They lay together, propped up on their elbows, in the soft candlelight, overlooking the lake as they often did on nights like this. ‘She is the most beautiful creature to have graced this earth with her presence.’ He thought, looking into her eyes as she looked into his. Her hair fell over her face and the light fell on her face softly. The lady knew all her wild fantasies had dissipated. She found her home. She no longer waited on boys and books. Here was her love. Her balance. Her North. She smiled softly. He pushed himself into a sitting position, and she followed. He exhaled his breath and gently removed a small parcel from his pocket. On one knee he presented the small, elegant gem on the ring. No doubt, they found that they were both utterly, hopelessly, truly in love. ♡
