~Writing Contest entry!!!~ @Sparky_the_Protogen [Prompt 1]

Instructions

(Unshared cuz I made updates) My paws ache as I run through the forest, the humans on my tail. The wind beats on my fur, sending dust and debris into my face. I run quickly into a cave opening, my paws sliding on vines. I sigh, panting. I look behind me, seeing the humans run past the cavern. They didn’t see me enter-I think. The blinding nothingness of the cave almost welcomes me, safety awaiting just a few pawst- eps away. My paws kick small pebbles as I enter the cave, my vision adjusting to the gloomy light. I quicken my pace to a trot as I enter the winding tunnels, seeing a dimly lit cave in the distance. I enter, seeing an illum- inated circle on the ground. With nothing to lose, I curiously touch it, and it disappears with a sudden burst of light. I blink, dark spots clouding my vision. My paw feels like it’s on fire, and then, with another blast of light, the pain is gone, and I can make out a soft light pulsing from my paw. I take a step back, as if trying to run from my paw, (It didn’t work.) and hit a cold stone wall behind me. I look around, turning to the exit. I bolt out, not caring that the humans will catch me. I burst out of the cave. Panicked, I look around. The humans are nowhere to be found. They must’ve run away. I breathe a sigh of relief, before remembering my glowing paw. I look at my paw, my heart racing. It’s normal again, and I take a deep breath, trying to calm my still speeding heart. Maybe, just maybe, Everything will be okay. - @Sparky_the_Protogen That’s it!
