Darkness. That's all the world was. A scratch. A faint voice. Light flooded his vision. Too bright. He began to cry. He needed comfort, but where? A hand gently touched his head. A language he did not understand was spoken, and another voice replied to it. The first voice let out a small gasp of excitement. "Eclipse." The voice was soft, natural, and had a sense of familiarity. He recognized the voice from before when he was in the darkness. He clung to the arm of this voice, needing warmth. "Who... are you?" Eclipse finally opened his eyes to see a smiling, robed alien looking down at him. "You can call me Master, or Black Death." Black Death turned to the alien beside him. They spoke again in the language he didn't recognize. Eclipse shuffled and looked around. He was in some sort of shell... thing. What was it? He looked around more and saw the other fuller shells that lined the walls of this place. He flicked his tail, curious. Black Death spoke to him again in the Darkling language. "Eclipse? Are you hungry?" He was very hungry. Breaking out of the darkness, crying, and exploring took a lot of energy. He nodded intensely. Black Death laughed and lifted him out of the shell. "Do you know how to walk?" Eclipse demonstrated by taking a few wobbly steps. "S-sort of?" He fell over a few times, but made it a few feet. Black Death's eyes widened, and he spoke to the other figure beside him again. Eclipse sighed and left the room shakily. They were in some sort of cave, but he could see the way out just down the hallway... "Eclipse!" Black Death quickly caught up to him. "Please stay with me, alright? You have much to learn, and I can't have you wandering off into danger." "Danger?" He didn't recognize the word. "I'll tell you later, but for now, we have to get some food, ok?" Eclipse nodded and followed Black Death outside. It was dark outside, and Eclipse looked up at the sky. There was a big black circle in the sky, and he pointed at it. "What's that?" Black Death looked up. "That's an eclipse. What you're named after." The eclipse became high in the sky and completely black, covering the land in shadows. Eclipse doubled over. His head hurt immensely. "W-what?" Black Death whirled around at him. "Eclipse!" Black Death grabbed him quickly, just as he blacked out.
