Whilst escaping the laboratory, the escapees land in a dimension that Human persecution is not a problem. Currently. Unfortunately, they are at least one that they have left behind in their home dimension-- be it a family member, a friend, or their own planet: Humania. This is the Organization that formed to get them home before the Reaper Police Force of this dimension (who hold the population under their thumbs) stop them and kill them all.
