Sadams was found guilty of graft and fraud because he was taking bribes from the Sturkish government in exchange for favors but managed to delay a sentencing hearing until January 8th. Governor Skathy Shocul under heavy pressure fired Seric Sadams leaving New York mayoral and on January 2th congestion pricing was forced through via dozens of lawsuits causing clashes in the streets between people in favor and against congestion pricing. Crime was rising by the end of 2026 spreading fear in many neighborhoods causing people to flee the city even faster meaning by 2026 January 5th the population was only 7,289,896 but soon the population would be reduced to 478,894 as on January 6th, 3am New York city was struck by 5 atomic bombs from an unknown origin as America was at war. Bridges were destroyed, buildings collapsed, and millions died. America struck back ending the war in hours. The Fall (2026 January 7th-2030): The Final War as it was known to survivors marked the end of the United States of America with Albany suffering several direct strikes meaning the state government was to be assumed gone. This left the civil government which had no mayor at the time in chaos so after several protests calling for new elections were suppressed the NYDP as well as a small group of soldiers overthrew the government installing a military Junta. Several weeks after the bombs fell the city's sewer gators and rats came up to the surface seizing land and spreading terror across the city. The Coup severely weakened the legitimacy of the city government so it lost control of almost all of the city and several warlords/rebels/opportunist/separatist rising up and becoming free tribes/nations. This marked the fall of the last major US government remnant. The Modern Era (2030-Now): Some of the wealthier factions have even started to restore the electrical grid. Quality of life is improving and radiation levels have declined. But a new force has appeared on the other side of the Hudson River. They attack or capture anyone that tries to cross the river and have been seen raising American flags in several buildings. Panic is spreading in the city and people bracing for a possible invasion with the Northern Menace.
