"Why does that stone have my name on it?" Sometimes when you become a 2nd year experiment you are given an apprentice, a new experiment. You are tasked with teaching them how things work, how to deal with the tests, and most importantly, how to deal with the pain of turning into one of them. When you are first turned into a half-animal, it hurts. The pain hurts your head if you are given ears, horns, or gills. Your back is in pain when you grow a tail. And if you- And if you were given wings it might be the worst pain. Experiment 41 was 34's apprentice. And they of course gave them wings. 41 was a raven, they were very nice, caring, and above all adorable. Maybe 8? 9? Still too young to be here. A monster that this owner was. But nothing could beat the pain of a broken heart. When an experiment isn't useful anymore you can imagine what they do, first they create a grave for them with their experiment name. Then they let the mentor decorate it.. When they've buried them alive. It's cruel. So cruel... And they don't even let them say goodbye to anyone. Not their parents, not their friends, not their mentor. Experiment 34 had to deal with the fact that she'll never find someone to care for like her brother who had forgotten her after the tests messed with his brain. "This life is so cruel.. Why. JUST WHY can't I catch a break!?" She'd say every. single. night. Before heading to her 'room' and going to sleep. After the day they put 41 in the ground.. Alive. 34 brought over black paint and started to paint a little raven in the middle of the gravestone. She didn't use paint brushes because 41 always liked to paint with their fingers. Like a child, because they were a child... Day after day 34 would go back and sit right next to the gravestone and the apple blossom tree that grew right next to it. 34 would talk about her day, her old life, and her brother. She had never forgotten about her brother. And 41 loved to ask how he's doing.. Even if her brother had forgotten about her. Sometimes 34 can even hear 41 speak when 34 sits by the grave, but only when 34 brings a book about other worlds. 34 decided to name 41 Muninn, after the name of a raven from the world 'Earth'
