Hold on H Name: The Humming Height: 2 miles tall, 2.5 miles long (Small giant) Aliases: None Category: Malevolent Monster (possibly), Manipulative Story: There have been several sightings but the following stories are only of the first encounter and when humans attempted to neutralize it. 11/26/1989: A loud low humming was reported throughout San Fransisco and parts of Daly City from 11:26 pm to 12:37 am. Many reported being extremely fearful of the sound for no clear reason. Individuals closest to Golden State Park have been reported to act very strangely and paranoid. Some reports claimed that they were going insane and becoming violent. During this time, a large sauropod-like figure stood in Golden Gate Park, gently swaying. At approximately 12:40 am, it slowly walked into the ocean and as it left, the humming stoped. Strangely, many people who were previously deaf, some even born deaf, could hear after the incident. Additionally, they were the only ones who did not feel paranoid or anxious during the event. 10/4/1996: After several encounters, the U.S. government concluded it would be best to neutralize the entity since its presence has been attributed to a growing number of people with permanent psychological damage. When it was seen again in Portland, Oregon at 11:56 pm, five Boeing AH-64 Apache attack helicopters were sent to terminate the Humming. During the mission, the personnel involved reported that it was challenging to focus on the situation and many mentioned extreme fear, paranoia, and anxiety. After being hit by the first missile, the entity became much more alert and mobile. It let out a loud shriek, which killed 127 people and countless people with permanent hearing damage. Even deaf people who regain their hearing lost it again. Quickly after the helicopter opened fire upon the Humming, but the entity released focused soundwaves which detonated the missiles before impact and destroyed all five of the helicopters. No one involved in this operation survived. Due to the poor visibility, it was unclear if the attack physically damaged the entity. Since then no one has attempted to attack the Humming. Based on the encounters with the Humming, many have concluded that it probably fed off of people's paranoia and anxiety that is caused by its sounds, though how this worked exactly, is still unclear. Others suggested that this was a defensive behavior that was used to distract people from it, though it is unclear as to why the Humming would approach human civilization. Another theory is that it is communicating with another entity. This theory then begs the question: Who or what is it trying to communicate with?
