You couldn't believe how fast I remixed this the moment I saw it on front page- Anyway this was smth I was thinking about doing a while, it's prob one of my most consistent and/or long-running stories so far, yet somehow the most I've shown of it (at least on this site) is like two drawings of the protagonists, so... yeah. I'll also (prob) upload drawings of some of the major characters here too later. — TW: mentions of d3@th and other disturbing(?) implications 1: What story will you be using to answer these questions? How would you quickly describe the storyline? Rocky & Glider! Basically revolves around the adventures of two unlikely friends (a brown rabbit who can control plants and a former robotic minion of a notorious villain) who are actually part of a recurring prophecy that :) 2: What inspired your story? During the pandemic, I got into several other coding programs including code.org. One of their "engines" so to speak had certain characters, some of which would go on to inspire the two main characters and some of their allies/friends. 3: Does it take place on Earth or in a made up land? In what time? Well... it's complicated. The primary setting, Arcana, is actually the result of the Earth being so overwhelmed with pollution and negativity that it created darkness which needed to be combated using magic created from radiation. 4: What’s a favorite place in your story and the events that happen there? Depends (it's still very unfinished and prob will be forever), 5: Who is your protagonist? What is their mission? Rocky and/or Glider (i mean, the title basically sells itself), they don't have a particular goal at first but are soon acquired to reunite with their fellow guardians-in-training and prove themselves. 6: Who is the most underrated character in your story and why? I haven't really shared it much yet but if I had to choose, maybe Puzzles. They're assembled by XML using various scrap parts as emotional support for Glider involving the d3@th of his former best friends. So far they've only played a prominent role in one story which is their debut. 7: What two characters have the most interesting relationship (good or bad)? Again, very subjective. I'd prob go with Scorch (the fire guardian) and Chelsea (his companion). Scorch tends to be very stubborn and short-tempered, 8: What are the conflicts of the story? Do you have villains? Conflict changes between stories, but oftentimes. There are a few exceptions though, mainly Dr. Zenstein (generic mad scientist) and the Indigo Thieves (trio of bully kids). The overarching antagonist is the Darkness (obviously) and some organization that caused its release (idk, I kinda forgot some parts of the lore and my reinterpretations of them might not be entirely accurate to what it was before). 9: Which character is the most misunderstood? Probably Scorch. He wanted to live up to his father's (perhaps unfair?) expectations but became a wanted criminal after accidentally k!lling someone in a tournament, not to mention potentially making it even harder to prove himself. Also he's really stubborn, short-tempered, and may have a bit of a superiority complex. However, he still cares about his companion + fellow guardians and genuinely wants to make a positive difference on the world. 10: Is there a character the most like you (or even based off you)? What qualities do you share? I would say Zara. We both have parents who have high expectations for us, some that feel pressured by them. Both of us are also perfectionists but secretly feel like we don't deserve the reputation we have gained. 11: Is there an animal sidekick? ehhh technically?? 12: Who or what acts as the comedic relief? XML, a teal alien 13: What is the underlying message or moral of the story? I'd say friendship is the most prominent. Other possible/planned themes include fame, generational trauma, family issues, and loss. 14: What are some symbols or hidden meanings you have placed? None that I can think of. (continued in Notes/Credits)
(cont.) 15: What genre would you consider your story? Fantasy, adventure, comedy or slice-of-life maybe? 16: What type of media is your story (book, animation, movie, play, etc)? Currently writing it, though I also considered making it some form of comic. 17: What’s a song that matches an event or character in your story? Uhhh- "Little Miss Perfect" by Write It Out Loud & Taylor Louderman for Zara. I guess. (I will prob re-answer this later) 18: Is it a cast of people, animals, or both? Both :) 19: What’s something funny or ridiculous that happens? During the Halloween special, the group gets trapped in a haunted house and eventually stumble into a room with a coffin where a vampire comes out and bites X-M-L, only to the vampire to gag at the taste since his blood is grayer in color and different than the usual. (I have a few more examples but this is the first that came to mind) 20: What’s the biggest obstacle your protagonist must overcome? Tricky question... I would say maybe having to deal with the burden of seemingly protecting the entirety of Arcana (not to mention the "Darkness breaking free" thing) 21: Does anyone die? How does it change things? Glider's former friends Xia and Bouncer :( 22: Which character would you choose to be your friend? Who would you not get along with? I'd prob choose either Chelsea or Breeze (even tho I haven't implemented the latter into the story yet), they just seem really nice but not too overwhelming (also I think I have a thing for crafty girls- /jjjj). As for who to not get along with, I'd say Jason (leader of the Indigo Thieves) for obvious reasons. 23: If any, what weapons are used? Powers (obviously), Glider's helicopter blades, Scorch's gauntlets... that's all I can think of so far. 24: How does your story differ now from when you first started making it? I believe I mostly just made these for fun/out of boredom and didn't have a solid idea of the lore except for like profiles and a brochure for Cherby Town (a major location especially in "Season 1") but as I continued, it gradually began to be more story-oriented (tho there are ofc still some things to fill out and I'd still prob try fitting a few filler "episodes" in just for the fun of it) 25: What’s something interesting about your story that wasn’t asked about here? I would say maybe a lot but- this is already getting pretty long so I'll just stop right here :) (maybe I'll post some more details inside the project)
