Meadow has given us a hint. It is time to theorize. When you see '[next]' use the right arrow key, spacebar, or click to go to the next image. [next] About a week ago, Meadow said that there had been three important EA characters that had not even been hinted at yet in the comic. They gave me another hint by saying to look in the original Eternal Apprentice references. There I found who I think is most likely to be who they were talking about. [next] Next to Salmonpaw in the references, we see someone called Mongoosepaw. They are a brown and gray apprentice with green eyes and long hair over their left eye. Though many of the designs and names are unfamiliar, I believe that Mongoosepaw is the most likely to be new because: [next] 1. There aren’t any named Starclan apprentices besides the three so far. 2. We got a hint from Meadow in the ‘Did Don’t Do’ that the trio wasn’t going to be a trio for much longer, which means they would either gain or lose a cat. 3. They said one of the characters was going to be a main character’s love interest, and Salmonpaw is both pan and single. [next] My theory on Mongoosepaw is that they are either Mistkit, Mousekit, or ???kit. It was hinted in Chapter 23 that one of Featherstar’s kits was around Salmonpaw’s age, and Mongoose is shown to have the classic hair floof over their eye. Their green eyes aren’t present in either of their parents, but both of their grandparents on Redeye’s side have green eyes, so that gene could easily be hiding under their albino gene. [next] Mistkit death could easily be them never getting over their kitten cough. However, though I found very little concrete evidence on the topic, I doubt kitten cough would take until apprenticeship to kill. I theorize Mousekit simply because their name start’s with M just like Mongoose’s. I’m not sure about Meadow, but when I change a characters name, I like to keep the first letter the same since it really sets the vibe. This could also be interesting as Salmon and Mouse could learn they were both named by the same cat (Adderpaw) which would be funny. [next] ???kit is simply because main character energy. The only girl and with a surprise name? This literally feels like a set up for a very interesting character. Besides that, Meadow said they had a name but they didn’t like it, which I take as meaning they’d been part of EA for a long time. [next] If one of them is Mongoosepaw, this is how I think things will play out. When the officials fish Salmonpaw out of the memory cave, Featherstar goes ‘I know those two were bad influences!’ and forces Salmonpaw to hang out with the kit hinted at in Chapter 23. Surely spending time around her obedient, genetically superior child would change Salmon for the better, right? Unfortunately, Feather’s plan backfires and their child instead gets recruited into Salmon’s trio, or now Salmon’s quartet. This would of course make Feather mad, and could be the start of her villain arc towards Salmon; a bitterness for corrupting her kitten. [next] Now, there is also a very large counter argument for this theory; Meadow said these characters had BARELY been shown yet. All of these kittens, especially Mistkit, have had their time in the spotlight, so it wouldn’t make sense with the original comment of ‘haven’t even hinted at existing yet’. [next] So yeah, I guess I’m wrapping up this theory with a really big question mark. I really don’t have much information on Mongoosepaw, even if they are the cat Meadow was talking about. Do not give up hope though, dear theorists. Meadow said that they have BARELY shown the three cats at all, not NEVER shown the cats. My goal is to be a theorist that Matpat would be proud of, so I’ll be going through the roughly 450 projects Meadow has posted after Eternal Kit in search for these characters.
