He can be charming and convincing when necessary, but prefers to watch and observe and only speak when necessary. Bellator is only talkative around Soleil, whom he would protect with his life. If he had to choose between protecting his queen or Soleil, he would abandon the queen. ——— Backstory: How could a little kid who thought fighting for the monarch was cool turn into the leader of the rebellion against the crown? Bellator himself doesn’t know. It was his life’s dream to be one of Queen Cassie’s personal guards. His mother supposing, but everyone in his village told him that “a little girl” would never be able to do it, but that only fueled his desire. He practiced day and night. Sparred with everyone he met. Fought those twice his size. Finally, on inspection day, Bellator managed to catch the queen’s eye. At only 15 years, he managed to beat Queen Cassie’s head personal guard. Before he left for the palace, his mother gave him a cloak with a moon clasp. She had made it out of one of his old blankets, and the clasp was a locket. One side had a picture of her, and the other side was left empty. “So you’ll remember me and where you came from,” she had said. “What’s the empty side of the locket for?” “Oh, you know, in case you meet some charming cat and fall in love,” she smiled cheekily. “You’re young and handsome, I don’t want you to live your life alone alone.” “Mother, I’ve never met anyone I remotely liked except you. That’s why I have no friends, remember? I’ve already accepted that I’ll never find love.” Well, it turns out that mothers are always right. Not long after moving in to the palace, he bumped into the queen’s eldest daughter, Diamond, but it wasn’t her who caught his eye. It was Soleil, Diamond’s personal servant. Diamond noticed this, and purposely tried to make them “coincidentally” meet, whether it was in the kitchens to get food or the throne room to see the queen. Bellator grew closer to Soleil, and started to open up to them. Soleil would tell him stories about the palace and watch him train. Diamond was always nice to the two, and let Bellator come to her room to see Soleil whenever he wanted. And one night…Bellator realized this was what his mother had been talking about. He slipped a picture of Soleil in the empty locket space, closed his eyes, and fell asleep. The next morning, he could tell that something was wrong. Everyone was panicking, and Diamond and Soleil weren’t in Diamond’s room. He soon found out what was going on. Queen Cassie had unexpectedly d!3d during the night, and the young Diamond was to be coronated. Immediately after being crowned, Queen Diamond declared that Bellator would be the head of her personal guard and was to accompany her at all times. Yes, he was the best, but the timing was odd. He had barely been at the castle for a year, and at least 3 years had to pass before you got promoted. Still, Bellator wasn’t complaining, since it meant that he got to spend more time with Soleil. Things seemed fine for a while. Queen Diamond was running the kingdom well, Bellator got to spend time with Soleil, and his mother’s letters to him were always long and caring. What broke the peace was when Soleil rushed into the room Bellator was taking a break in one day. They had an anxious expression on their face, and was holding a small bottle in their paw. Upon closer inspection, Bellator realized that it was an empty bottle of poison, and Soleil had found it in Queen Diamond’s room while cleaning. It didn’t take long for him to reach the same conclusion Soleil did: Diamond had k!ll3d her mother to ascend the throne. In their panic, they hadn’t realized that Diamond herself had slipped in, accompanied by a dozen guards. She had been so good to them, and they didn’t want to believe she could do such a thing, but it made sense, didn’t it? Buy the loyalty of those you surround yourself with kindness and favors. She gave them a choice. They had discovered her secret. Keep quiet and be honored beyond compare or di3. Bellator was stunned into silence, but Soleil spoke. “Never.” And Bellator was too late to stop the guards. … Bellator managed to escape, but there was a bl33ding scratch where his eye had been. Why, why did the skies above have to take Soleil? Why not him instead? Soleil was perfect, the embodiment of happiness and positivity. Bellator would make sure Soleil didn’t die in vain. He spread the story. He showed the bottle of poison. Most didn’t believe at first, but Queen Diamond kept doing questionable acts that could only be explained as cover-ups for Soleil and Queen Cassie’s d3@ths. The truth spread like wildfire. Everyone knew what the Queen had done, and they wanted her d3@d. But she still held the power of the crown.
