Yes, cats have magic in this world. Most of them have either elemental abilities(which come into play and have a very special purpose) or minor trivial powers! Kite's abilities are bringing creatures to a state of calm. He can use this to disarm fights(but it's much less effective on other cats) and catch prey, bringing it into a calm trance so he can sneak up on it. Nightshade has darkvision essentially, which is why she chooses to live in a cave. Her eyes work VERY well.
