Use up and down arrow keys to zoom in and out The geocentric model of the universe was founded by Ptolemy (pronounced tall-emmy) in 130 AD. The geocentric means that the Earth is in the center of the universe. This method was believed for a stunning amount of time: 1,500 years. This model shows the rotating of the the planets relative to the actual speeds. The calculation takes 360 and divides it by amount of days it takes for the planet to go around the sun (in this case, Earth) and multiplies that by the speed chosen.
