Chapter 6 Sapphire’s eyes grew wide. “Not from…Nightfrost, are you?” she sounded almost afraid. “What are you, scared?” Rose challenged her. “You should be.” Sapphire replaced her surprised look with definant anger, and lunged at Rose, teeth bared, tearing a gash in Rose’s flank. Rose gasped with pain. “How’s the savior of the world now?” Sapphire sneered. Shattershadows, use your Shattershadows, the voice cut through Rose’s head. An instinct unlocked suddenly. Rose reared up, claws unsheathed, and leaped into the air. Curls of darkness shot out from her, and they speared into Sapphire’s jaw. The white cat groaned. Rose landed with a soft thud. Rose shaped shadows into spears and slashed them at Sapphire. Rose summoned inky blackness out of her again, and they sped through the air, going straight at Sapphire. She shut her eyes tight and then peeked through again. Sapphire was dead, on the grassy ground, stained red. “Rose!” Raven stumbled forward. “I can do all sort of things now!” Rose cried. “Shadows, go tell Fox to come back because if he has me with him, he won’t get into trouble and we can deal with that after our journey completes!” “ROSE!” Raven shouted. “Snap out of it! That isn’t you, it’s the shadows.” She pounced and pinned Rose down. Rose shook her head a few times, then stared around looking confused. “What-what happened?” She asked. I told you! A blizzard crashed into Rose’s mind and she took in a breath sharply. You should have finished your quest and learned more from Feather! You should have declined that offer! Shadow was more sincere, and his voice was swirling around her head and making her dizzy. I…She started. I just was trying to protect everyone. She was vaguely aware of Raven shaking her, and Forest standing beside, looking like he didn’t want to stay, but had to so he made a good impression. Couldn’t you tell that the Skyline cats are all liars? They won’t stop sending cats after you! Shadow scolded. Rose rubbed her head. Can you leave now? I don’t feel so good, she asked. THAT is because when you use Shattershadows, they sink into you, every time deeper. Only use NORMAL shadows. Shadow must’ve yelled, because next thing she knew she was sitting up in a small building on a leaf/moss bed. A gold Wilfur, Raven, Forest, and three more Wilfurs, one grey one white and another grey and black. “What’s this place?” she asked slowly. “The Healing Center,” Raven answered immediately. “We weren’t sure what happened to you….” Rose cringed. “It was Shadow,” she admitted. Thankfully, Raven didn’t ask any more. Instead, she said, “Rose, I have some cats to introduce you to.” Raven nodded at the gold cat and she stepped forward. “This is Sunrise,” she explained. “You can find her hunting, or sleeping, or trying out new jewelry.” The white cat stepped forward. “This is Opal,” Raven said. “She’s helping out with the Healing Center.” A grey cat stepped up. “This is Rain,” Raven said. “He’s usually climbing or battling.” The grey and black cat came forward timidly. “That’s Weather,” Raven said. “Well, her real name is Weather. She prefers we call her Drizzle, being Rain’s sister and all. Drizzle can be found tinkering with gadgets in any place she can find.” Rose nodded to each in turn, and they gave her an encouraging smile. “We heard you needed some help,” Drizzle said. “So, I brought you something.” Drizzle held out a small bracelet with gold wires showered with glitter and embedded with small jewels.
