Chapter Four Piper I looked up. It was a tall, intimidating girl wearing gothic clothes. She had stolen my Warrior Cats book and was flipping through it. A rush of thoughts started to flow through my head. “What will she think if she sees it’s Warrior Cats? Will she think I’m weird or freaky? Will she call me a furry? Will she make fun of me? Will she spread rumors about me?” “Is this Warrior Cats?” she asked me. “I- I mean, um- I-” “Cool.” “So, um, what’s your name?” I asked her. “I’m Victoria, but my friends call me Vic.” “Can I call you Vic?” I asked her. “Sure, whatever.” A moment of silence occurred. Then, suddenly, I heard a noise. It was a smug laughing, mixed with loud footsteps. We both looked down the hall to see a large group of eighth grade boys, all dressed in red football jerseys. I stood there, a bit stunned, when suddenly the goth girl grabbed me and pulled me into a closet. I caught my breath from the shock. “What was that for?” I asked gently. “Those are the Meerkats. Popular, disgusting, dumb jocks. Even if you try to avoid them, they always find you.” She replied, peering through the small window on the door. “The… Meerkats?” “The football team.” “Ohhhhh.” I said, trying to look out the window. “Makes sense.” “Here, come on.” She said, moving over so I could peer out too. “Looks like they’re bullying a sixth grader.” “Oh. A sixth grader? How sad.” I kept looking out the window, looking at the girl. I swear I recognized her… my eyes kept darting to her tail, her cat ears… where did I recognize her? Suddenly, a sick feeling gathered in my stomach as I recognized her. “Oh no. Oh no. Oh no. This is bad, thisisbad, this is bad…” “What?” The larger girl asked me. “That’s my sister.”
