Instructions

It appears that we got the wrong bureau number for our FG-1D. This Corsair actually served with the RNZAF, bureau number 88215. Here’s some info we found on it: ‘Shipped from USA on 29 April 1945 aboard "USS Benjamin William". Assembled at Corsair Assembly Unit, Los Negros and BOC Los Negros on 15 June 1945. Coded "15". To No.17 Squadron, Los Negros on 31 July 1945. Ferried to New Zealand September-October 1945. Ferried to Aircraft Storage Unit, Rukuhia in October 1945. Ferried to Hobsonville in February 1946. To Japan aboard "HMS Glory" in March 1946. With No.14 Squadron, Japan, March 1946-October 1948. Declared surplus to requirements and intended to be burnt in Japan on 10 October 1948. Believed removed from pile and taken away by US officers. Later photographed at Iwakuni 22 November 1948. Final fate unknown’ ig we know its fate now
