Hello Everybody! I missed you guyyyyys With school and my PCE obsession, I hadn't had much time to work on any new animations, buuuut I sat down and worked all day all labor day weekend, and now I have a new animation to show you!! It's on YouTube as promised, but I'll provide a scratch-friendly link as well. Also a little note - I plan on posting my animations a day or two early on YT to urge people who do have YT to sub to me there, soooooo *shameless plug* Soooo, with all of that out of the way... Let's talk about the art/animation itself!! This animation was very experimental for me - aside for a few animations here and there, I'd never used Krita seriously for animation. However, I finally grew fed up with Adobe Animate's one singular brush and very painful zooming, and decided to switch to Krita, the art program I've been using for years but have never animated on. Another reason for the switch was because Krita has all of these awesome lighting and rendering effects that I can do super easily with overlay layers to make animations look super polished, which I was very excited about. Furthermore, I also had used Scratch for all editing up until this point - a friend of mine recommended CapCut as a good editing program, and since I took one look at After Effects and fainted, I figured it was worth a shot. While the tweening in CapCut sucks with the lack of easing (at least that I know of), the UI is super easy to digest and instead of spending hours trying to code a meme into time, I spent 20 minutes dragging and dropping everything into CapCut and boom, fully-made animation meme. However, since I did fully animate this one, I haven't tested out true tweening with multiple parts, although that is something I hope to tackle eventually. This project definitely made me realize how stagnant I'd grown while confined to making animations on Scratch - it'd take me more than a month to make something that I can make in a few hours with a proper program. While I had a fun time with Scratch Vector and learned a lot of things about bezier curves and coding through my time here, most of my regrets about my decision have faded and I'm looking forward to the future on YT! This animation meme is about one of my Pixel Cat's End cats, Arcturus! Ever since I started playing, he's been one of my favorites, and definitely the target of a lot of my need to torture all characters I touch. I was super excited to animate him and do a little hinting as to his backstory! Poor baby smh Now that school's been going for over a month, I think I sort of have a grip on things and I'm looking forward to creating more again! However, I've been having a lot of fun living my life and tbh not having so much strain with Scratch has definitely lifted a weight :') I still, however, have been getting recolors left and right, so like, wow y'all never learned your lesson did you?? I gave like, one person who was really respectful and always credited properly permission to recolor and suddenly all you eight-year-olds descend on me like a swarm of wasps HELP Anyways, props to you if you read this far down, and I hope you have a good rest of your day!
