A Golden Story ------------------------ Chapter 3 --------- The Discussion Next: Soon Previous: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1058516046/ First: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1058467773/ Gold sipped her tea carefully. She remembered when her mom brew herbs on a cold day like this— and she sipped it gratefully down. She gazed at the cup around her hands and felt the drink warm her body. Nothing felt better since she'd been hit mysteriously on her wing. "So," Walker murmured, gulping down some tea in his throat. "Care to tell now?" Gold looked up at him and blinked. "Oh! Yes, sorry . . I was just . . thinking about something." She ended the sentence with a sigh and then took another sip of her tea. "Just last night, I was flying peacefully when something hit my wings. I blacked out soon after and ended here last time I was conscious. But I don't think im from around here," A silence filled the room as she marveled at the modern luxuries. Or maybe futuristic, I guess. Reader, Gold lived in a secluded town, so modern luxury to her was a comfy chair. She had no idea of the wonders of the world, of technology, of air conditioning (how tragic that is . . ). "But now i'm here. And with my flo-" She felt in her hair for the marvelous purple flower that was laced into her locks, but nothing, unless you count a little petal sticking out of it. It's crazy it never fell. Gold frowned. "It must've been blown to pieces when I fainted." She felt the velvety texture of the petal between her fingers. Gold stifled tears. "Whats the importance of some /stupid/ flower?" Kamber snorted, being quiet the whole talk, besides now. Her hazel eyes-- I should say eye, as she was blind in one-- widened slightly at the stunning color of the petal. Gold was about to shed a tear when the comment stopped her waterworks fast. "Kamber! Don't be rude!" Walker glared at his friend. He turned his head back to Gold quickly. "Anyways," He cleared his throat. "I'm surprised the flower petal didn't whilt or anything." "It's never died. I've had the thing since I was a little baby girl." "Wait- what?" "Yeah. I don't know why or how, but I do, I guess." " . . Wait . . " Kamber interrupted. "I think I know what the plant is." She got up with no explanation, opened the door out of the apartment, and left. She soon came back with a thick, heavyset book that looked like it hadn't been read in a big. It was a deep sea blue and had messy handwriting on the cover. Gold couldn't really interpret the words, but it felt as if it was on the edge of her tongue. Kamber set the thick-paged volume onto the coffee table in front of the two. "I've had this book ever since my parents . . " She wiped back a tear and sighed for a moment. Walker stared at her. He was very empathetic and could tell it was of anger rather than sadness . . ? "It doesn't matter. I'll just read it to you." She continued. "Throughout the sprawling earth of Koltabailand and lays the Kitiq Flower, a rare and once-in-a-lifetime plant. But once, long ago, it grew in the millions. Everywhere. Deutschland. Tigotho. Anywhere. It was extremely adaptable to its environment and imported across ships often. This plant became extremely popular as soon as it was discovered. The Kitiq Flower was renowned for its healing uses, especially in the medical fields. But it was praised most for its unique ability: to give people upgraded versions of themselves. If one wasn't very muscular, consuming the whole Kitiq flower would boost your strength permanently. The strengths could even be passed down through generations. But these strengths were, overtime, sorted into Abilities. The Abilities included: speed, strength, accuracy, sight, hearing, and . . . ." She halted her words, Kamber raised a brow. "Weird. It’s crossed out . . " She pondered, mumbling stiffly. Gold spread her wings nervously, wondering why it'd been crossed out. "I'll continue." " . . But unfortunately, everything has its weaknesses. The Kitiq Flower was /impossible/ to farm. Even if crop-growers harvested seeds from the plant, none of the seeds would grow. No one figured out the science behind The Kitiq Flower, and to this day, it remains a mystery. Over one-hundred years ago, the marvelous flower ran extinct from over usage, and over time, as the world grew bigger, less people had the special Abilities. But, thankfully the colors, looks, and listed abilities of shipping documents, this book contains all types of Kitiq Flowers known." Kamber flipped a page, taking a quick breath. "The point of reading you this book is that it looks an awful like this," She pointed to the purple petal and back at a colorful image of a magenta plant. Gold gasped. It was a matching image! But which was it? Perhaps the speed? She wondered for a moment before Walker spoke up. "I had no idea you had that book, Kamber.” CONT NOTES AND CREDITS
“. . . Well, I guess there'd be no point in showing it anyways; didn't even know what a Kitiq Flower was until you read that! " He smiled, seeming to take interest in the story. Kamber groaned. "I ain't done, Walker!" She barked, turning a page. "If a person injured their Ability physically /or/ mentally horribly, regardless of any medicine, it couldn't be healed unless you gathered all petals of each Kitiq flower. There are six different flowers in total, each different but similar." Gold sighed, spreading out her wings. It didn't seem like her wings were of the Kitiq Flower Abilties, but it was worth a try. She spoke up and suggested in to her new friends, and both of their eyebrows rasied. "Maybe. Then you can find your way home, wherever that is.” Walker smiled warmly. She smiled back and felt her cheek burn just a little bit. "Thing is, might be tough for me to get around without wings for a bit," Gold added. Amber frowned and hissed, “Who even knows if the Kitiq Flower even exists anymore?” Walker gave her a harsh glare and countered with, “We should try anyways, to help her, like how I helped you through . . .” He shook his head, not wanting to ruin the moment.
