A Golden Story ------------------------ Chapter 1 --------- The Walk Next: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1058516046/ Previous: None First: Here! "I wish I could see this world . . The only one i've seen is barren and foggy." Gold wrote in her journal, quickly closing it then and sighing. She took a long, hard gaze at her window outside-- which was dirtied from its age, but still very see through. She felt through her golden hair to grab the purple flower, which had the stem tucked nicely inside her locks. She pulled it out, twisting the stem with ease. She'd had the pretty flower since she was born, and never once did it face damage or wither. It was quite odd. Gold inspected the little plant with curiosity, never noticing how bright the purple shone. "Must really pair well with my hair," She whispered, weaving it back into her curls. Glass was a rare sighting in her quaint town, so she didn't see her reflection very often. Maybe in a puddle once or twice a month; since it rained a whole lot where she was settled, but otherwise, its appearance wasn't very common. She reopened her book, tilting her head downwards as she took hold of a wooden pencil and set its point across the paper. Gold quickly wrote, "But I really don't understand /why/ my parents wont let me see the world. Maybe its just all the same, boring look or something." She looked out the window once more, frowning at the sight. "And they won't even let me venture the forests! Well, not like I have any friends to share it with . . " Gold set down her pencil and decided it was enough writing for the day. Her little bursts of energy was what always kept her coming back to her collection of thoughts. The village kids was a sparse population of 6-- Gold included. But they never let her in on their daily adventures outdoors, seeing her as an oddball of some sort. It was what always kept her inside her cozy home, away from the mean taunts of the village kids. Gold jumped as she heard a knock from her bedroom door. "Can I come in?" She heard a voice call. Gold turned around and answered with a yes, her clear blue eyes blinking. The door flung open to see her father stride into her bedroom. Gold, out of confusion, asked her father what he wanted from her. "Oh, well, I was just wondering if you wanted to join me and your mother for dinner. Its ready, honey." Her father smiled, dimples showing. Gold's dad was a tall man with straight brown hair and a lovely smile. He had brownish freckles which complemented his grin nicely. She sighed. "Alright. What is it?" "A salad, fresh from the garden." Gold groaned. They had that almost every night, and it was sickening, even if it was healthy. She followed her dad into the main room, where the wooden table was sitting with wooden stools around it. A fresh assortment of lettuce and slices of tomatoes covered her wooden dish around her. There was a forest nearby with an abundance of wood, so much of the town was built of wood, even the houses. Even her forks and spoons were hand-carved by her father. Gold took in a sharp breath and poked the plants with her sharp fork, then looked at her parents, who were busy wolfing down their dinner. "So, honey," Her mom said in a muffled voice, pausing to swallow the salad. "Hows your day been?" Golds mom had a sweet voice and was caring of her needs. She was proud to have such loving parents, but sometimes she preferred to be left alone with her thoughts, which was a trait her parents were not so experienced with. It annoyed her hugely sometimes. Gold stared at her mother. "It was fine. I wrote a lot in my journal today." A small smile spread on her face, but disappeared when her dad mumbled, "Always in that book of yours." Gold snorted. Her mom and dad always wanted her to be outdoors, as both had grew up spending hours in the woods. But her heart had belonged to her creativity in the journal, especially to her writing. And, well, the village kids didn't exactly like her, anyways, so adventuring by herself wasn't the most fun, but her parents didn't understand that well. "I'd love to see you outside, with the town kids, but not in the forest, no,” Her mother added, clasping her hands together seriously. Gold's mom's tone had an edge of sweetness to it, though. Emotions swirled in the pit of her stomach, and it took those words for her to get ready to protest. But, she stayed quiet, and instead mumbled, "I'm going for a walk," stiffly, and dashed outside. Gold needed to get fresh air and blow off steam, so that was what she did. But in the sense of 'walking', it was defined differently in the town. You see, reader, Golds village all shared a magical trait unlike any other humans: wings. However, she assumed all were like that. CONTINUED BELOW

Description

Gold spread her glimmering wings; they were a deeper golden color than her hair, but still marvelous next to her locks. She tilted her knees and burst into the air quickly, feeling the cold air hit her skin. It was refreshing and soon she felt herself calm down. Wind veered all over, sending the wind slashing against her hair softly. Gold smiled and looked out onto the horizon. It was breathtaking, with shifting pinks and oranges and blues and purples. However, it was descending out of sight quickly, and it would turn dark quickly. Gold knew she'd have to get back to her confused parents, but couldn't help flying farther. She battled her brain about it, but the idea of exploration won quickly. The area around Gold's town was old news, but the mountains were different . . each top was capped with snow, brush, and grass and it was a green-turned mountain from the plants;; the green was duller, so it turned like an eyesore similarly. As Gold flew farther towards the mountains, it became dark. "Oh no!" She panicked, trying to turn around in the direction of her home, but she was too far gone to see the light candles of the town. It was hard to admit it, but, she was "Lost!" Gold cried, digging her hands into her hair anxiously. "How could've I gotten lost? I should've just stayed with Mom and Da-" She was unable to finish her sentence before something sharp hit her left wing, and she was now out of control of her wings. Without both of her wings in shape, Gold couldn't fly. But before she could do anything about it, she felt a black wave of unconsciousness wash over her . . END OF CHAPTER ONE ~`+`~ .
