the term "good art" is a devious ploy created by the devil to undermine up-and-coming artists who have low self-esteem. whenever someone calls something "good" they are, consciously or unconsciously, assessing how well a thing adheres to an arbitrary criteria. if you were to call someone a "good person" you are assessing how their actions align with your arbitrary moral framework. and these arbitrary criteria vary from person to person. the reason why some people may have very different opinions on media is not necessarily that they have made differences in observations (although this may very well be the case), or even that they have made differences in assessing how well a piece fits into their framework for viewing, it is that the criteria itself differs from person to person. the same applies to art. someone with a cartoony art style is not lesser than someone who can create extremely realistic landscapes, as much as they are different. quite frankly, i do hope you are using distinct modes of interpretation when viewing picasso in contrast to when you are reading calivn and hobbes. the amount of possible "arts" that can be created is too vast for one framework to neatly assess all of them. the babel image archives is a website that contains every single 416 by 640-pixel image in existence. this website contains a picture of every piece of artwork in existence, and every piece of artwork not in existence. unfortunately, it contains roughly 10^961755 pictures, most of which are unintelligible white noise. and here's the kicker: all of these images could be considered art. so if you, as an aspiring artist, think that your art is "bad", consider what framework in which you are viewing your art. are you striving for realistic portraits? cartoonishly exaggerated proportions? hyper-abstract? impressionistic? because with a shift in mindset, you could become the greatest artist in the world, if only to yourself. simply put: why do you want to make art? the answer to this question determines how you will view your own work, and you will understand which aspects of art you should focus on, and which to forget about. tl;dr if u wanna draw gay furries kissing and someone calls ur art bad bc its not realistic enough punch them in the face ^ that was a joke btw don't actually punch people
