Instructions

Left and right to move, up to..."jump" (you'll keep rising indefinitely until you release the key). And press C to give yourself a burst of speed and also lock your controls for 180 frames or until you jump.

Description

PLAY THIS IN TURBOWARP AT 60FPS, on the actual Scratch website here this only runs at 30fps and is only half the speed it's supposed to run at. This is a crude prototype I've been experimenting on the past few days, where I'm trying to sort of replicate Classic Genesis Sonic The Hedgehog physics in Scratch, following the Sonic Physics Guide on Sonic Retro. Only his left and right movement was translated here, jumping is very crude and physics-less, BUT the acceleration, deceleration, friction, top speed, etc., are actually pretty much exact to Sonic's actual physics from the Sega Genesis games, even having some of the same quirks they had. So there's SOME one-to-one accurate Sonic physics here, as well as a rough early implementation of the 360 loop mechanics. This is built off a very stripped-down version of a very sophisticated version of that same platforming engine I've been working on that was for that "alpha upcoming game" project. Meaning there's some Griffpatch code in here from many years ago, so I guess some credit to him once again. Since Sonic has very different and unique physics compared to...basically everything I HAD implemented in this engine, I created a stripped down version that removed ALL the unique custom moves and all the physics I had built up over the past several years, leaving absolutely the bare minimum to just...function, and then I started building these Sonic physics from there.
