Instructions

Full title: Add yourself at the closed Rolling Acres Mall during the night! Feel free to add yourself. Rules: Don’t replace my OC, but add them right beside. Story: Rolling Acres Mall was an enclosed shopping mall in Akron, Ohio. It was built by Forest City Enterprises and opened on August 6, 1975 with Sears. Later stores were built at that time. JCPenney and the cinema in 1976, O’Neils and Montgomery Ward in 1977. Montgomery Ward closed in 1986, became Higbee’s and finally Dillard’s in 1992. In 1989, O’Neils closed and became May Co. In 1993, May Co. became Kaufmann’s. In 1995, Target was added onto the mall. In 2006, Kaufmann’s became Macy’s before closing permanently 2 years later. It went through a sharp decline throughout the 1990s and into the 2000s. Target and Dillard’s closed in 2006. Macy’s closed in 2008 in just 2 years after the Kaufmann’s rebrand. By October 2008, there were 8 tenants left. At this point, all of them were informed that the mall could no longer afford its electricity bill, and it would be closing as soon as possible. The mall closed on October 31, 2008 after the power was cut off for not paying their electricity bills. Sears operated until 2011, and JCPenney (which was at the time called JC’s 5 Star Outlet) closed in 2013, leaving the mall entirely abandoned. The mall was finally demolished between 2016 and 2019, with an Amazon fulfillment center being built on top of the former site. The only part remaining of the mall was a former Sears, which is now a Pinnacle Recycling facility. The former Sear also houses a Rumpke center too.
