WHOLE LOTTA DISCLAIMERS: [jul 30] if you thought this was going to be about fight collabs, metagamers, that kinda stuff, etc, you can click off now. or stay! either one works. i know i've been caught up in that kind of stuff lately, lots of my recent projects have been related to that community... but this is just something i need to get off of my chest. [aug 6] i did NOT make this to divert attention away from the current snowdingus-10/xbloxgamer 2.0 drama, but it might as well. i started to make this before july ended, but i didnt have time to make an audio recording + the one that i tried to make earlier today, or on august 6th, was too big for scratch. womp womp me, i guess. [aug 10] morning, it's 12am. i recorded this in a hotel room with ac at full blast and my voice shattered and broken in pieces. sorry if the audio quality is trashy, i just wanted to get this out. read the transcription. [mar 2 2025] looking back through this, realized i COMPLETELY forgot to mention something very important to the case i made in this project. read the transcription. even though (probably) no one will see this, i still feel this is an important issue in the community that just about no one is addressing. i'm not naming anyone because that's simply wrong. please don't do your own research on changed until you're older, people. [transcription] morning, evening, wherever you may be. i'm thatactualcoder101, also known as njspbolt practically everywhere else. i've noticed for a pretty good while now that scratch is being host to a growing community, one that has been bugging me under my skin. this community is centered around a... ahem... VERY not scratch-friendly game on steam. if i tried to describe one bit of it, other than the fact that it revolves around the furry fandom, st would take every precaution to wipe me off of the face of this planet. i don't think that would be pleasant. though, here's the issue: many of the individuals in this community are kids. people under the age of 16. the fact that these kids are literally fanboying/fangirling over this game is not just midly concerning, it's VERY concerning. the amount of projects and studios that have content from or based off of this game is mind boggling. how would this get allowed on a kids coding website? don't members of the ST see this and think "dude what are these kids doing here?" please for the love of all that is good and holy don't research changed until you're older. i've been on scratch for a while, and i've seen things like communities and trends come and go. i've seen animators peak for a few weeks, and then fizzle out, or maybe end in a bang (funnytoons? xblox? any of that ring a bell?) or controversy of some sort. anyways i'm digressing. i tend to do that a lot, my apolo(cheese). i feel like this not so sudden trend of youngsters who are into this kind of stuff is going to skyrocket and no one is going to notice except for like, maybe two other people who might say something that will go completely unnoticed. that's why i made this. i have a gut feeling this little sub-culture will grow out of control not too soon. now, in all of this, i'm not trying to justify hate against the furry fandom, especially considering that i AM a member of the fandom. when the hated calls for others to retaliate against the hater, they're suddenly just as bad as the hater. this is something that has been proven time and time again. regardless, this is just something that shouldn't continue for the sake of scratch remaining a "kid's coding site" (along with a 2020 jeep wrangler filled to the brim with other issues scratch should prioritize), if scratch wants to continue remaining a kid's coding site. i've probably opened far too many cans of worms in this recording, despite only wanting to focus on just one, but oh well. i hope i get the message across. other information i left out of my rant: i completely forgot to mention that it is literally against the wishes of DragonSnow (the developer of the aforementioned game) for the... er... aforementioned game to have a presence on platforms intended for or harbouring a large presence of minors. what was scratch for? minors. what are the largest demographics of scratch users? minors. case closed. tl;dr the children have created a community on scratch focused around a certain game that is VERY ToS-breaking, despite st taking zero action against any of this. i'm not going to let this one slide. Music used: Heaven Pierce Her - The Fire is Gone Format heavily inspired by https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/863832137/ notes: [sep 16] wow, thanks. i never expected this to spread through the community at all. thank you.
