I love this simple yet stunning design so much I spent all day on this- it is currently 6 AM-ish I’ve been up all night writing XD ~~~ -Bio- Name: Sera Cordelia Eklektos Name Meaning: Sera-like seraphim Cordelia-daughter/jewel of the sea Eklektos-chosen one Pronouns: she/her Orientation: AroAce Backstory: When she was young, Sera loved the water. The calming ripples, the way sunlight glinted off of the surface, the shadows of fish and other creatures darting below the surface…what wasn’t to love? She was raised comfortably by a noble family in a small town near a large river, and had plenty of free time to spend near the river. Sera had no friends, but that was okay because she had the water. The water provided life, it grew crops, it gave the town a plentiful supply of fish. Without it, there would be no town. Sera’s mentor figure was the town’s storyteller, a wizened cat named Zixuan who had traveled the world. They told her stories about a body of water larger than the river- larger than any lake even- called the ocean. Oh how Sera’s heart longed to see the ocean. It must’ve been many times more beautiful than the river… Time passed, and Sera was finally old enough to travel out of the village and to the ocean, and her heart leapt with joy when she finally saw it. It was everything of her dreams and even more, an endless blanket of blue as far as the eye could see. She stayed to watch the sunset and the sunrise. Walked the soft sand beaches, leaving paw prints behind. Fished for her food, noting how different the saltwater fish were from freshwater ones. She reminisced the stories Zixuan had told her, feeling sorry that they had long passed. And when she was done, Sera made sure to remove all traces of her presence from the beach, as if it were a sacred ground that should not be tainted. It was, in a way, to her. After all, a place so beautiful should remain that way, right? … Not more than a year had passed since Sera’s visit to the ocean. Since then, she had only went back to the waters once, to scatter her late mentor’s ashes, making the place even more sacred her. But a danger was threatening the place Sera cherished so dearly. The kingdom’s waters were getting more and more polluted, and all the water led to the sea. Plants, animals, and protists would die, acid rain would fall, killing crops and damaging wildlife. The cats in charge refused to do anything, saying that they didn’t want to waste the “kingdom’s” money on “a trivial matter”. Sera tried to talk sense into them. She tried to make the people who thought like her be heard. She showed evidence of the destruction, she gave speeches, held protests, but… None of it worked. Sera had done all she could to help, and now she didn’t know what to do. The thing she loved most was at stake, and she had been rendered powerless… except… A feeling she had never felt before rushed through her veins. Her tired body felt energized, her weary eyes opened, full of new life. In front of her stood Seremptress, the guardian of waters. “Rise, my child, for you are my chosen. You alone will be gifted power to help your cause…” And the figure of the water guardian faded away, and Sera’s eyes closed. … When Sera woke up, she knew something wasn’t right. Where were her arms? What happened to her eye? What wee the little things floating near her head? And most of all…where did the feeling that she had to hurt those who harmed the water come from? She had to punish them. No- Sera wasn’t a violent cat, she never had harmful thoughts. She wanted to find a peaceful solution to everything. But this power… shouldn’t she use it? Trapped within her own mind. Torn between right and wrong. Unable to know what to do. Sera’s power was…more of a curse.
