Just pitching an idea for @freder1. Stage 1-3: Main Underground Stage 4-5: Salt Mines Here's how it could match the story line: Scrape sets a trap; a hole. Scratch Cat falls in it and discovers underground tunnels. Going through them is quicker than climbing back up and taking the long route. A temporary weapon could be a pickaxe.
