It is about 27 cm long, and they are mainly green with a blue head and neck. It has red undertail feathers. It lives in tropical and subtropical South America and southern Central America. The Blue-headed Parrot nests in a tree cavity. They lay three to five white eggs. These parrots are noisy birds and make a light, high-pitched squeaking 'sweenk' calls.
