The FMC 18 series is a 2 ton 4x4 medium-duty dually truck platform based on the civilian FMC 2218 and used for a wide range of military applications such as troop transport, mobile weapons platforms, cargo trucks, dump trucks, semi-tractors, vans, wreckers, and bare chassis/cabs for specialty bodies. Unlike civilian versions, the military 18 series is only equipped with the 6.9L diesel V8 and a 5-speed manual transmission, as well as vertical exhaust stacks. It should be noted that the 2 ton (4,000 lb) rating is how much it is rated to carry over any terrain, in optimal conditions it can carry as much as 10 tons (20,000 lbs).
