The Salamander King-An HP FanFic-Chapter 3 We made our way to the bookshop and got to browsing. Two hours later we each had five books in hand. Just to be clear, only two were mine. “Glad you found some reading material, Ellie. This should keep you busy for what? A day?” “Hardy har-har.” She sassily remarked. “Can we drop these off at my place? I so don’t want to carry them.” I nodded so she led me through town until we came to a peaceful one story yellow house. “Fair warning,” she said, “it can get loud.” We walked in the door and all I could think was- “-Wow. Ellie, why have I never been here before. This place is amazing. Magical, even.” “Ari! Is that you?” “Yes mum! I’ve brought a friend.” A woman stepped out from the kitchen. She was about 5’7” and was wearing a light yellow house dress under a plain tan apron covered in flour and jam. What threw me off most however, was that her skin was the complete opposite of Ariella’s. This woman, her mum I reminded myself, was of pure African American descent, while Ariella most certainly was not. “Mum, this is Everest. One of the boys I’ve been telling you about?” “Oh yes! It’s so good to finally meet you after all these years. Want some food?” “Sounds lovely mum, can we take it to my room?” “Of course.” She loaded a plate and placed it on top of my book stack. “Thank you, Mrs…” “Oh, just Ms. now. Ms. Harbinger.” “Of course. Well thank you Ms. Harbinger. It was lovely to make your acquaintance.” We made our way to Ariella’s room where we found her two younger brothers playing, with wands. Ari froze in the door. “Boys! What did I say about messing around with those?!” “Oh come on Ellie. The more practice the boys get the better. By the time they get into Hogwarts they’ll be the best in their class. That’s how I’ve got top ranks.” She turned towards me, surprised. “You go to Hogwarts? So none of this is a shock to you?!” “Nope! Pure-blooded so nothing in this world is a shock. Which brings me to the point of you being adopted?” “Yeah.” Ellie responded in a quiet voice. “Mum left a week after I was born. Daddy died when I was four. Lola took me in and then had these two monkeys six years ago.” She added in a small voice, “Please don’t tell the others.” “Of course not, they don’t need to know. Boys, nice to meet you, but do you mind giving me and your sister some space?” They nodded and quietly ducked out of the room and shut the door behind them. “I’m sorry all that happened to you and I’m sorry you felt like you couldn’t tell me.” Ariella locked eyes with me and wrapped her arms around my waist. “No more secrets.” It wasn’t a question, she was /telling/ me that there would be no more secrets between us. I wrapped my arms around her and kissed her forehead. “No more secrets.”
@Isabella_Scamander for giving me permission to make a matching fanfic. @Laylas_Orders for the banner! I know these are long and not the most interesting so I apologize, but there’s more to come! <3
