Or the fact she doesn't know what her face looks like, because she's never seen it in pictures. Or maybe the nightmares she has every night. And the fact that when it gets a little too quiet, her visions blurs and she can hear the sound... Of Static. She's seen these things all her life, and has learned to live with them. Until one night. When a fire breaks out on campus, destroying the lab across the way, something changes. The voices in Echo's head get louder and louder, and suddenly she can't see, and the world falls away into horrible, infinite Static. And that's the night when He emerges for the first time. And suddenly nothing will ever be the same again.
