Mallory Malfoy| An HP Fanfic| Chapter 8| Year 2 Before we knew it, it was Christmas! Mum had written to me two weeks prior to ask if I was okay with staying at Hogwarts. Turns out there was some family drama she didn't want me involved with yet and the Ministry was getting swamped with all sorts of cases. I told her it was okay and to let me know if there was any way I could help. Plus I wouldn't be alone, Scorpius was staying too. I may be a Gryffindor, but at heart I knew I was a Slytherin. And together the 'Scorpion King' and I would turn this castle upside down- possibly literally. Scorpius and I walked Adrian, Zach and Nova to the train platform the morning before Christmas Eve. "Don't have too much fun without me" I said jokingly. "Yeah well, don't destroy the school." Deadpanned Adrian. I faked surprise, "Moi?! Destroy something? Never!" "Okay kids," interjected Nova. "Mallory, I miss you already. The boys and I left our presents to you at the foot of your bed. Don't open them till Christmas though." "I miss you too Noves. And I'm sure I'll love whatever you guys got me. I sent your presents to your houses so hopefully they are already under your trees." We then hugged for what felt like an eternity, we knew that it was only two weeks until we saw each other again- but anything could happen in that time. Us four finally untangled at the sound of the train whistle. The three friends boarded and were out of sight in the blink of an eye. "Wanna get some food then come hang in the snake pit with me?" Asked Scorpius. "This place has a snake pit?!" He sighed and shook his head. "The Slytherin Common Room." He clarified with a smirk. "Oh." I said slightly disappointed. "Sure. Play some cards?" "Sounds great." We walked arm and arm back up to the Castle to the Great Hall. I hadn't realized just how loud Hogwarts was until I walked in and saw almost nobody. "Wow. Feels like a cemetery in here. I thought more people would want to stay. How come you stayed?" "Dads got Ministry work. And frankly, holidays aren't the same without my mum." "Oh. I hadn't realized your mum had passed. I'm sorry." He gave a small smile. "Don't be sorry. She was weak before she had me so it was only a matter of time. Plus it was before you started here." Scorpius paused to collect himself. "Well, grab whatever you want and we'll take it to the Common Room with us." I nodded and loaded mine and his arms with enough food to last us the evening. We entered the 'Snake Pit' and I was taken away. I mean, I know I live in a magical world and all, but how! was it possible to have housing under a lake?! "This is awesome. Kinda wish I was a Slytherin." "Oh yeah? Just so you can live under a lake?" I shrugged, "Among other reasons. Now Let's eat, i'm starving." We sat on one of the couches next to the fire and dived into our food. After a while Scorpius got up and came back with an armful of games and coloring books. "Not sure how in order these games are. Slytherins get bored really quick and make up their own games." I laughed. "Well, since I am an honorary Slytherin for the next two weeks, perhaps I should learn some of these games." "All right then." And that's what we did. I won't try to explain the games, especially the more messed up ones, but I felt right at home. Some of the other Slytherins even came over and played with us. Before we knew it, everyone was placing bets on who would win and who would lose. I couldn't believe what I felt. I felt at home. Had I been placed in the wrong house? No one in Gryffindor behaved this way unless it was for Quidditch. But with these guys, I never wanted to leave. In fact, I didn't. I ended up falling asleep on the couch around 9:30. At 11, Scorpius woke me up to take me to his bed so I would sleep properly. I stood up and immediately grabbed my head. "Woah, you okay there Mal?" "Yeah. Just need water I think." I stood up straight and took a step towards him. That's when I blacked out.
