Slugs are well known around the planet for their excruciatingly slow speed, due to relying on moving through contracting and relaxing a single foot, and using mucus to help them slides across a surface. However, perhaps surprisingly the top speed of slugs can vary dramatically between species, depending on the number of foot contractions in a given time period and the rate at which mucus can be produced. This project compares the top speeds of four slugs, which lie on the slowest end of the spectrum. I hope that you enjoy it!
