READ AFTER PLAYING PROJECT: As I post this, it has been 55 years since the Stonewall Revolution, an uprising against anti-LGBT+ police officers that today’s Pride Month is an anniversary of. Even with the progress made, there is still a vast amount of anti-LGBTQIA sentiment, reflected in the laws of too many countries and the sentiments of too many people. Considering this, my project is about finding encouragement, finding belonging, finding hope even in this malestorm of hatred, portrayed in the beginning as a swirling reddish black mass. The hope starts small, only a glimmer in the darkness. But when you take hold of the hope, you uncover a message, shining in the colors of the current intersex inclusive progress pride flag (well almost the colors, the black on it is replaced with a dark brown to show up on the black background). Eventually, the hope glimmer multiplies in a storm of brightness. As a cishet person myself, I cannot fully appreciate the struggles and challenges LGBTQIA+ people go through. But I hope that the project I have made reminds members of the community that strength can be found even in the darkest moments.
