Previous: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1040515618/ Next: Warning- death Chapter 2- Flameshriek Heatshine’s worried face is coming in flashes in front of me as the lightning and the rain comes down. The battering sheets turn his pelt darker, and Nightwhip, beside me, is already black as shadow. “Flameshriek! Nightwhip! Get out of here!” He yowls pleadingly. He turns to try to climb up the soaked oak log that’s holding him down, but Nightwhip lunges forward and bites his tail. Heatshine lets out a yelp, and I can see little pinpricks of blood welling up. I march forward and mutter, “Time for you to be gone,” as Nightwhip comes up beside me and we pounce onto his terrified face. He thrashes under the water, but two warriors on top of him is too much weight. As his struggles slowly die down, the water starts rising up ominously. It quickly overtakes us, and we try to swim, but we weren’t trained for this. I slide under the log first, then my companion. I gulp in a mixture of water and air, the rain still punching us in the gut. I push against the dark warrior to get out, but we end up fighting underwater. I vaguely hear a caterwaul of despair from far away- “Brimstar!” and I think I recognize Youngbloom’s voice. Even though Nightwhip’s claws are scoring gashes in my skin, I barely feel it. Black spots appear in my vision– and I think there are some in Nightwhip’s, too. I open my eyes in a shadowy forest, and I can’t see farther than two fox-lengths in front of me. “Nightwhip?” I call out, wary, but no cat answers me. I start pacing forwards, and as I walk, I think I can hear the forest sounds waking up. It sends a tremble through me, but I fight it off. A sudden thought hits me- Am I in the Place of No Stars? -------------------------------------------------------------------- Yes, I know that was a short chapter- sry!
