I look into their eyes, and I can see the wisdom behind the shine of bright green and amber. “Hello, Youngbloom,” The red she-cat mews. “I am Squirrelstar and this is my sister, Leafpool.” I squint, trying to place their names, but they explain before I can remember. “We’re from the old ThunderClan,” Leafpool meows. “I think, Youngbloom, that you’re one of our descendants. And not only that- but I can see something in your future that we might be able to give you advice for.” Brimstar shoots her a warning with a glare, but she carries on. “I was a medicine cat, and I fell for a WindClan cat called Crowfeather. He loved me too, so we met up at night, and that was against the warrior code.” “Long story short, she had his kits, Jayfeather, Lionblaze, and Hollyleaf, and I took them in as my own, allowing my mate, Brambleclaw, and the rest of the Clan they were mine,” Squirrelstar continues. “But the secret was uncovered, and Brambleclaw broke up with her. They all didn’t forgive us until long after,” Leafpool mews sadly. A lone tear shies out of her eye, vanishing before hitting the ground. “We’ve both suffered for love, and we think we can see something similar happening in your future,” Squirrelstar meows, a desperate note in her voice. A few StarClan cats start getting to their paws, glares in their eyes. “I give you a life for being proud of who you love, and never hiding things about yourself away!” Leafpool yowls, as the others drag her backwards. I rush forward and touch noses with her. Squirrelstar manages to fight some of them off, but she too eventually is restrained, and meows quickly, “I give you another life for-” “You weren’t supposed to do that! What if the timeline is changing now because she knows something?” Brimstar interrupts her, furious. I can’t hear what she meant to say, but I do touch noses with her before they drag her away. “Destiny is destiny!” Leafpool caterwauls indignantly before she and Squirrelstar disappear with their captors. There’s a tiny echo of Squirrelstar yowling, “Secrets didn’t work out for us!” I turn to Brimstar, eyes wide. Fourclover disappeared, and Heatshine has a grim look on his face. “What-” I meow inquiringly before the world shifts backwards and to the side, so I’m disoriented as Dark Forest kits when I wake, and the sky is pale. Wavespeck’s face is turned away from me, so I can’t see his expression. He moves stiffly, though, which could mean that he spectated the whole ceremony and saw the old Clan she-cats. We walk back in silence.
