Instructions

I accepted her offer of dinner, of course I felt weird about it and still do. I didn't want to say no and upset her. She just seemed so nice how could I reject something like that? So me Sheik Link's mom and Link all sitting at the table. It was tense. Me and Link felt awkward, while his mom and Sheik felt comfortable. In fact so comfy that Sheik just had relaxed eyes and Link's mom was smiling. She seemed a very bubbly person. It was kinda confusing how someone can be so happy and enthusiastic when her husband is dead and her son always at work. I don't really know how she does it, especially when we're in the same boat. My father is always on duty and the only time we talk is for business reasons. My mother is dead, and the only thing of hers I have is her looks and her dress. Everyone says I'm just like her. It's the one thing that keeps me going. Her pictures, her dress and the fact that we're so similar. I just wish I could've known her. "Zelda, Zelda ZELDA!" I look up and see Sheik had her arm on my shoulder. She looked so worried. I wonder how long I was thinking. "Sorry, I was lost in thought..." I say looking down at the table. "Uhm Foods ready." Links mother says as she gets up and grabs 4 plates with delicious looking food on them. It had an apple banana and nuts on it with an aroma that makes everything feel better. I wonder how she could've pulled of a meal like this. "Sunny steamed fruit. A recipe founded by the brave hero I named my son after. Link looks up at his mom and smiles. It was such a pure and joyful smile. It almost took the silent soldier she knew and changed him. Was this his true self? Have I misjudged him this whole time? It was like he was a child with no burden at all much like I would've been if my mother hadn't died. "Well, dig in." his mom says. I don't hesitate as I pickup the apple and take a bite. All of a sudden I feel the warmth of my mother. Without Gannon, without the triforce and without a stupid prophecy. I swallow and thank her as I down the whole meal in an instant. By the time I was done Link was already cleaning off his plate. He's so happy now. Maybe he feels how I do. Maybe I was being hard on him he's so sweet on the inside. I guess I shouldn't have judged the book by it's cover. Sheik was also don savoring every last bit of the flavor left in her mouth. I clean my plate too. "Thank you that was delicious. "I didn't eat breakfast so this a lovely meal. Might I ask the ingredients." I ask. "Well, it's really just fruit and the special ingredient Sundelion." She says. My whole body stops moving mid cleaning. Sundelion. My moms favorite flower. I understand why now. It brings joy to anyone near it. "Oh, how nice." I say quietly. She then looks concerned. "Don't beat yourself up, " I start looking to her. "It's just a thought I had." I say continuing cleaning my plate. "I'm so sorry about your husband and Link your father. It's not fair." I say. They both look at me perplexed. I just keep cleaning. Sheik looks at me concerned. "He died honorably though. Your son is much like him I hear. So maybe he's still here looking out for you." I say wiping of my plate with a rag and putting it away. She wipes of a tear. "Thank you. I'm sorry about your mother. You look identical too her." She replies back with a sad smile. I nod. "We should leave you be now." I say. Ending the conversation. "Wait, " she says stopping me. She comes over and whispers "Please make sure Link is safe on your journey's." She says solemnly "I'll try. I can't promise, but I'll try. " I reply quietly. It pained to hear her ask that and not being able to tell her he'll be fine. I walk out the door. Link and Sheik following behind. "Zelda, " Sheik says obviously worried about me. "Don't worry about me. That's not your job." I say and then start walking away so she can't protest. Link follows then Sheik. I take a deep breath and stand up straighter. We walk out of the restored village. Link still cheerful, though less now. I hear birds chirping and water rushing. The river is wild and untamable. But given a peaceful air by the birds and sun. Nature is beautiful, the trees brown bark mixed with the pure green leafs. The cold gray stones are a roof for little bugs. The brown soft soil provides ground under our feet. So fragile and yet provides life. I suppose to everything bad there is a good. Perhaps an interesting way of thinking. I hear the quiet song of a travelling band at the nearby stable. "Let's go to the stable." I continue walking to the stable as the music gets louder my heart flutters a bit. I always loved the stable trotters. They play such beautiful music. They're quite the performers. I walk into the crowd, and join them in clapping. I start drawing peoples attention. "It's the princess!" Someone said and the band paused. "My, my, seems we've attracted the princess herself." The conductor says smiling. "How did we attract the likes of you your majesty?" He asks as the crowd parts.

Description

"Your Music of course. It's quite lovely. " I say. People were nodding in agreement. "Would you like to join us? There's room for one more." he asks. "O-oh no, I couldn't I'm no good at singing." I say and the crowd starts a chant. "Dance then," he says offering his hand. Link and Sheik are in the crowd. Sheik joining in on the chant. "Uh- uhm, ok fine." I take his hand and he lifts me up on stage. I start twirling holding my dress and tapping my feet. The musicians change up the song to be an upbeat melody. By the end of it the sun is going down and I'm on a horse ready to leave. The musicians and all bow and walk off stage then sit at the cooking pot provided. I thank the man at the table for getting my horse saddled up. Then me Sheik and Link all ride away to the lift. I bid Sheik farewell and step on the lift ensuring her with my horse. I relax and exhale. I laugh a little and think to myself what a day. I close my eyes and tip my head back soaking up the last bits of sun. I open my eyes and watch the orange blob that is the sun slowly sink into the horizon. We're now at the top I wave goodbye to Link and make my way to the castle. The soft dark blues staining the sky as the stars start to appear. I get to the front doors of the castle and open them. I go to my room and lay on the bed looking at the ceiling. Maybe Link's not so bad after all.
