It was a friday afternoon. Beckham Daniels stepped into my office. He looked worried. “What’s the matter?” I asked him upon seeing his face. “My brother has been murdered,” He said and then promptly fainted. Lately everything had been pretty chill in the office, not much work but this, this was exciting. I felt the adrenaline pump through me as I awaited the journey in front of me. I looked on the floor and realized that Beckham was still on the floor and I dragged him to a spot on the couch. 30 minutes later he awoke. He was confused and I told him that he was telling me about his case. “Oh, yes,” He said. “ I remember what I was saying now. So anyway, my brother, John was killed yesterday at his house. His wife came home and he was in the library, dead. His wife started to freak out and called me to see if I could help. I don’t know how she is going to tell her daughter that John had been murdered.” “Okay,” I replied, the gears in my head beginning to spin. “Would it be okay if I did two things? One I would like to search his house. Second I want to inspect the body.” “That’s fine with me, I’ll just check with my sister-in-law.” He grabbed his phone and called her. A few minutes went by. “She says it’s okay, but you better do it soon because they are going to take the body tomorrow.” We jumped into his car and he drove me to the house. I decided to interview the wife. “Where were you yesterday?” I asked. “I was at work. At the law firm I work at.” She replied “Okay, and when you came home you found his dead body correct?” “Yep” “Did you make sure he was dead because he might just be in a coma?” “Oops. I might not have done that.” As soon as I heard her say that I ran to the library to where the body was. I touched it and felt… rubber? This was a fake body! I did a fingerprint test and sure enough there were finger prints all over this thing. I ran into the kitchen and told everyone the news. Gasps came from all corners of the room. “Wait,” Beckham said. “Then where is John?” “I think he might have been kidnapped.” I replied again with gasps following. “I did a finger print test. I am going to bring it to the office to scan it through our system.” One day later I arrived with news. “There is a person named Kage Leonard. He recently escaped jail. The good thing is we have a lot of information on him. We sent a team over there last night so I’m going to get information as soon as possible.” “That’s great!” Excitedly said Beckham. “But there is bad news. He might not be the same as he was. Some people who goes through these kinds of situations were so frazzled that they can never be the same as before,” I told them sadly. “Is there a way that we can do to get him back to normal?” Asked John’s wife. “Well… yes, but it costs thousands of dollars.” I answered. “I’ll do what ever it takes to get John back,” She replied. Well that’s one devoted wife, I thought. To be continued
