Hi! I'm Clover, and I'll be attempting to win Midge in this WTA. You'd better get ready, because I have a book prepared for you. I hope you like it! --------------------------------- Midge was a bright, inspirational, and creative dragonet. She had always been intrigued by books and by everything she could do in the books and everything that could happen. As a dragonet, she'd loved helping her father in the library, which is what led her to being an author. The writer of those stories she loved so much. It was like she'd been led to the craft by fate and was always meant to be an author. Her life was good, and she loved it, but she didn't know how fragile her perfect life was and how quickly it could be shattered and how easily it could be. ❛❛ Caught in the moment, not even thinkin' twice Everything's frozen, nothing but you and I ❜❜ It was a beautiful morning; the sky was nearly cloudless, and the sunlight was bright and energizing. This was one of the days that Midge could go and write outside while her dad worked in the library. He didn't get why she loved writing stories outside so much, but nobody really understood her way of doing things. They didn't understand, and that was fine with her. Even more than fine. Midge was in the middle of a short story about a scavenger who discovered treasure at the bottom of the sea, when a sharp smell reached her nostrils. They flared as she stood up, dropping everything to the floor. That was the smell of smoke, and it was coming from the library. ❛❛ Make me a promise, tell me you'll stay with me If I'm bein' honest, I don't know where this leads ❜❜ She ran inside glancing around. Somehow, one of the lanterns had fallen, and set part of the library on fire. It was spreading quickly, and there were dragons in there. "Everyone out!" She called, running over to a group of scared looking silkwing dragonets. "Everyone, get to the nearest exit and run. Go!" Midge shouted, her voice loud and demanding. She had to get the fire under control. But how? She pushed the dragonets towards the entrance, just getting them out when a hivewing ran past her. It was Milkweed, her dad, ash on his talons and his glasses sliding down his snout. "Dad, no!" She shouted, realizing he was going back inside. No! He couldn't go in there! She reached her talon out, grabbing his wrist. But, he brushed her off and kept running, sending a sad look back towards Midge, his daughter, his lovely one and only daughter. And that was the last she ever saw her dad... because he never came back out of there. ❛❛ Oh, baby, I can feel the rush of adrenaline I'm not scared to jump if you want to ❜❜ The worst part was that they never found him in the rubble of their little library. He'd just... disappeared. Everest was devastated, hugging her daughter closely as she sobbed. Midge was broken. She'd loved her father so much, maybe even more than her mother. And he was gone. Gone forever. She'd never see him shelving books and hear him reading to her ever again. For a while, she refused to talk to anyone. She acted strange, leaving the house for long periods of time and not even offering an explanation when she came home. Her mother began to worry. She was scared. What was going on with Midge? Why was she not like she had been before? Please don't let something happen to her too. Everest wouldn't be able to take anything else. And then something happened. Midge disappeared. ❛❛ I feel so reckless Oh, you're makin' me, makin' me, makin' me give in ❜❜ Her mother had no idea, but Midge had been visiting a dragon. A kind, odd leafwing-rainwing hybrid named Laurel who helped her with the pain of losing her father. And a dragon who had seen something. She had been there that day, behind the library where the forest was darker and gloomier. She'd seen a dragon dragging another dragon who was unconscious off into the forest, but she hadn't been able to see who either of the dragons were before they disappeared from view. Laurel had connected the dots after hearing Midge's story and had figured that it was Milkweed who'd been kidnaped from the scene. When she'd told Midge what she'd found out, she'd become devoted to finding her father and stopping the evil dragon who'd taken her father from her in the first place. Laurel vowed to help in any way she could and together they started planning. Planning to find Midge's father. Planning to save him. And planning to stop whoever had taken him. ❛❛ Let's just fall in love for the hell of it Maybe we'll just keep fallin' ❜❜ ------------------------------------- Well, that's all you get for now. I hope you liked this little snippet of Midge's story. I'm probably going to add more in a Part 2 or something, but I'll try.
