Hi! Here’s my dta entry, hope you like it:D ———— Sapphira (name subject to change)————— • Female • Solemn, sorrowful, quiet, avoids social interaction, brave, dignified • She is made of her past, not future • One day she was on a walk at the foot of the Hooded Mountains. It was night, and she had decided to take a stroll because she couldn’t fall asleep. Beams of moonlight spilled through the branches of the trees above and crickets chirped nearby. Dark shadows creeped around every corner. Sapphira continued on, though, as if completely oblivious to the darkness. After a while, her eyes drooped and her feet dragged. She was about to turn around and head back when a strange golden glow from around the corner caught her eye. She slowly crept along the path toward the glow and then peeked around a thick tree trunk. Her eyes widened and she gasped. Then she blinked, sure she was seeing things because of her drowsiness. But she wasn’t. Just a small ways away stood a large crystal, golden light emanating from it, bathing the forest in ethereal light. It looked like a large quartz. Sapphira wanted to gaze at it forever, to let her hard thoughts from that day melt away and evaporate in the light, and to draw near and lose herself in the embrace of that blissful golden light. She was on the verge of doing so when a new thought struck her. It must have some kind of power, to make it glow like that. And if it had power, perhaps she would obtain some of the power. If that were the case, she would never have to worry about being called names or being accused of things she didn’t do ever again. The longer she thought about it, the more she was sure it was a good idea. Finally, she walked over to the crystal and reached out her paw. She held it in the air for a moment, suddenly unsure about her decision. The light looked both inviting and menacing, wonderful and dreadful, strange and familiar. It was like nothing she had ever seen before. Sapphira took a deep breath and placed her paw firmly on it. It was strangely cold and smooth, even though it looked warm. She felt the power immediately. It jolted through her like lightning, and she started seeing memories. They appeared in front of her, all playing as quickly as the eye could see, before disappearing only to be replaced by more. They started out nice, but each memory became more and more awful. The rock glowed brighter and brighter, pulsing with power and intensity. She squeezed her eyes shut to escape the images, but she could still see them. Then she felt a strange sensation in her left arm, like a tingling coldness slowly creeping up her paw- the one she had placed on the crystal. She snapped her eyes open, immediately widening in terror. Gold was making its way up her paw, hardening it. Sapphira tried desperately to free herself from the crystal, but it was vain. She pulled and pulled at her arm, being careful not to touch the crystal, but nothing worked. She was stuck. She wished she hadn’t come out on this walk, let alone touch the rock. She wanted nothing more than just to break free of the crystal, to make the visions and the spreading gold all stop. She screeched through clenched teeth, then shouted. Tears started rolling down her cheeks. /I wish I hadn’t been so selfish…/ she thought. She closed her eyes again. At that moment the memories disappeared and the cold feeling in her paw faded. The powerful pressure that had imbued her lifted. Her grip on the quartz loosened. She opened her eyes slowly. Then, she retracted her arm from its place on the rock. She was free. She almost shouted with joy that turning to a gold statue wasn’t her fate. She didn’t however. She looked at the crystal, which was now glowing dimly and looked less welcoming. Then her gaze drifted to her left paw. It was metal all the way up to just under her elbow. It felt very stiff and cold, and she couldn’t move her fingers. It would stay with her as an eternal reminder of her foolish mistake. But at least she wasn’t still stuck. Sapphira knew that there was no way she could go back home like this. She could never go home. So she took off in a sprint, heading deeper into the forest, in the direction of north. :3 I might make a part two sometime:3
