The Flooded Caves are the new versions of the already existing underwater caves in the game, being updated to be more common and to have more unique features in them. Along with being made larger and more expansive. The caves are made of Soakstone, which is basically just blue stone, and it can be smelted back into regular stone. There are also small piles of driftwood known as Soak Wood, which can be made into planks, doors and the usual. Amongst all the Soakstone flooring, one can find large, fossilized oil deposits, which can be mined to get some Fossilized Oil Chunks. This can be used to make Oil Batteries, which can be connected to redstone to strengthen signals. While kelp and seagrass are still found down here, there is more fauna to be found here now. Such as the Clam, a natural chest-like block with only 1 storage slot, which can sometimes have a pearl inside when found naturally. There’s also the 2 new coral types: Deep Sea Thorn Coral and Deep Sea Bubble Coral. The new Bubble Coral is so soft it can simply be mined with bare hands, as for the Thorn Coral, you need an Iron pickaxe or better, and even so it will only drop Thorn Coral Shards. Aside from plant-life there are also the Mobs, such as Eels, Jellanterns and Octopi. The Eels dropping their scales upon death, Jellanterns dropping bioluminescent string and slime, and the Octopi dropping ink sacs and its tentacles.
