The ghost cat is Storm's mom, Flower. Flower died of cancer, and now Storm, having not learned how to deal with his own emotions when he was little, is now taking his pain out on Winter. Winter doesn't wanna fight him, since she's tying to help him as his "self appointed" therapist. (Her aunt, a doctor, actually appointed Winter to be Storm's therapist.) Yup.
