It was around 11:00 in the evening. I was trying to go to sleep. Then that’s when it happened. Hurricane force wind speeds topping 93 mph hit Cypress Pointe and surrounding neighborhoods. iPhone and other phones rung frequently with their Emergency Alert Systems. Lightning and thunder struck so often. At the time I didn’t know how bad it really was. That was until the next day. When the storm passed, leaves, branches, and other debris lay still on the ground as far as the I can see. My backyard was destroyed. Our trampoline moved like supposedly 50 feet away from where it originally sat. During the storm, it crashed into the play set we used to own. (We sent it to a scrapyard because of the damage) 10,000s of people lost their power. My uncle, his wife, and their son had to stay at our house because of the blackout. Several roads were blocked and/or closed down entirely. Trees were uprooted. Buildings suffered mild damage. And the storm was still remembered in my memory to this day.
