He found a mother Night Fury with her eggs on a ice cliff during the fight one of the eggs was knocked off the edge and fell into the ice cold water, the egg froze in the ice, it would have died but a pod of Sea Shockers led by a Seastormer named Hypno found the egg and got it out of the ice and brought it back to their underwater cave and raised him.
